Frequently Asked Questions

What type of hair extensions do you do?

There are many different ways to add extension hair. During the consultation I will suggest what method would be best for you based on your hair condition, desired hairstyle, and your lifestyle. "Fusion" (strand by strand), "Glue-free" (hair locks/mini links), and "seamless" are some of the methods I use.

What type of hair do you use?

I use only the finest human hair available. There are several different colors and textures to choose from. You can match your color exactly or add lighter strands for highlights, darker strands for lowlights, or funky bright colored strands just for fun.

How are the extensions attached?

A small amount of extension hair is applied very closely to the root area of your hair using a thermal bonding adhesive. The strands are applied one by one and are covered by your hair. The bonds are small and undetectable so your hairstyle can be worn up or down and even in a ponytail.

How long do they last?

The hair extensions last 3 to 5 months generally. Hair grows about a half an inch a month, and the bond will grow down and will need to be reattached when it gets about 2 inches from your scalp. I always do a 6 week maintenance appointment to check to see how you & the extensions are doing. I reattach any that you may have lost and determine when your next appointment should be.

How do you style and maintain hair extensions?

Because I only use the finest human hair, you can style your hair with a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron. You use shampoo, conditioners, and styling products like always, just oil-free products to protect the bonds. You brush your hair from the scalp down with a natural bristle brush. I advise my clients to braid their hair, or wear it in ponytails while sleeping, swimming, or doing any other activity where the hair could get tangled.

How do you take them out?

The type of hair extensions I use are just as easy to take out as put in. A removing solution is applied to the bond and breaks down the bonding agent to a powdery dust. Your own hair is left undamaged and if the same hairstyle is desired the same extension hair can be used again.

How much do extensions cost?

Everybody has different wants and needs, so I always do a free consultation first. The price depends on how long, what color, and how much hair is required to create the desired hairstyle. Some women only need a couple of rows to add thickness to their hairstyle and prices start at $250.
